Alternative Energy Integrator Certification
 Three-level program:
Level I will require the candidate to pass four (4) tests:
- Electronics Exam 1 - Direct Current Theory
- Electronics Exam 2 - Alternating Current Theory
- Comprehensive Exam 1 – Covers four (4) alternative energy areas: Photovoltaic, Wind, Micro Hydro, ands Fuel Cells
- Comprehensive Exam 2 - Covers Physics, Chemistry, Meteorology, and Mathematics
Level II will require the candidate to pass three (3) tests:
- Electronics Exam 4 - Digital Theory
- Comprehensive Exam 1 – Covers Passive Solar and Geothermal
- Comprehensive Exam 2 – Covers Project Development, Finance, Standards and Codes,
- Incentive, Feasibility Analysis and Site Development
Level III will be an advanced compressive battery of tests over the entire alternative energy area with a heavy emphasis on project, and product development, finance, standards, laws, covenants, and return on investment (ROI) analysis.
What Is Required Of An Alternative Energy Integrator?
- Designs residential alternative energy systems and integrates them with the entire home management system, using pre-engineered systems and components.
- Typically works for housing developers and architectural firms, and could either be subordinate to the construction manager or be part of the product development team.
- May also work for smart home and renewable energy consulting firms designing packages for retrofitting and managing the installation in existing homes.
- Finds employment in the area of technical sales and/or as an engineering representative.
- Must not only be knowledgeable of the technology, but also of marketing, economics, applicable law, finance, and residential development.
